The Napolitaner — Fortuna delle Banane

Fortuna delle Banane is an illustration created for The Napolitaner, an artistic project that portrays Naples through imagined magazine covers. The series pays tribute to the city’s history, characters and everyday poetry, echoing the narrative spirit of The New Yorker while grounding each image in Neapolitan culture.
This piece is inspired by “Fortuna,” a historical street vendor who once worked near the Cumana station in the Montesanto district. Surrounded by the voices and movement of the Pignasecca market, she became a familiar figure known for her vivid fruit displays and her presence in the neighborhood’s collective memory.
The illustration awarded Merit Winner in the 2023 - 3x3 International Illustration Awards — Self‑Promotion (US) was selected and published in the same year at Annual Awards — Autori di Immagini (IT).
